The Hospitality Department exists to care for and support all volunteers serving during Upper Room services. Our focus is to create a warm, welcoming and encouraging environment by providing refreshments such as snacks, coffee, tea, sweets and light meals.

This department is motivated by love, service and unity, with the goal of strengthening and blessing those who faithfully serve the Kingdom of God so they can continue their work with joy, energy, and focus.

Role and Responsibilities

Hospitality Team Members play a key role in caring for volunteer workers throughout the services. This role involves both practical service and relational warmth, ensuring every volunteer feels valued and supported.

Hospitality Team Members are expected to serve during scheduled hours, which may include set-up and pack-down times. Shifts may require being on your feet and moving around the venue.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and distributing snacks, sweets, drinks, and light meals (e.g. lunchboxes) for volunteer teams.
  • Maintaining and restocking the hospitality station or coffee bar throughout the event.
  • Ensuring the hospitality area remains clean, organised, and welcoming at all times.
  • Delivering refreshments to volunteer teams working in different areas of the venue when required.
  • Assisting team leads with set-up and clean-up before, during, and after services.
  • Responding promptly to requests for food or drinks from serving teams.
  • Working collaboratively with other hospitality team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Offering a friendly, warm, and encouraging presence to all volunteers.

Requirements

  • A heart for serving others and supporting the work of ministry.
  • Ability to work reliably and punctually as part of a team.
  • Willingness to stay organised, maintain cleanliness, and follow basic food-handling
    instructions.
  • Ability to walk and move around the venue to deliver refreshments as needed.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience in hospitality, catering, or volunteer service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with people.
  • Ability to remain calm and positive in busy or fast-paced environments.

Expected Process

  1. Written Application – Candidates will complete a written application.
  2. Infosession - General infosession in order to get a better view of the team and tasks.
  3. Virtual Interview (1x) – A one to one online interview to discern calling, character,availability, and alignment with Upper Room’s mission and values.
  4. Prayerful Discernment & Reference Check (if applicable) – The leadership team prayerfully reviews applications and may contact a pastor or spiritual leader for reference.
  5. Acceptance & Onboarding – Accepted members complete orientation and training.
